Insurance Case Study - Daniel Spencer - Financial Adviser at Insight

A great example of how important a good adviser can be to a client.

During a regular quarterly review meeting Daniel Spencer had with his client, she mentioned to him that she had a small medical issue, which she had attended to and had been recovering from, since they last met. She made no mention or had any idea that she was able to make a claim through her insurance policy. She had already had the operation and would make a full recovery. She had very little time off work, with only just a few sick days to have the operation and follow up doctor appointments.

Daniel suggested that she was able to make a partial claim on her existing TAL Trauma policy. The team at Insight prepared all the necessary forms and explained what doctors reports were required.

With no additional cost incurred, three weeks later the client received a partial payment of $30,387.66 and in 12 months time this amount can be reinstated onto the existing policy with no medical underwriting required. This is different for each policy and should be investigated on a case by case basis.

I had only applied for my Insurance cover only a few months prior to my sickness.  I was unfortunately off work for 2 months, which was a huge financial burden, particularly when I have a family.  With the help from the IFA team at Insight, we lodged a claim for my Income Protection policy.  The claim was processed quickly with AXA, who were fantastic to deal with.  I was particularly lucky to have dealt with the same person through the whole process, which made it so much easier.  It would have been difficult without having this policy. You don't realise how important it is to have Income Protection Insurance - I never thought I'd need to make a claim so soon.
